Thanks!!! Most of my effort goes into that one for sure. :-)
Seven states that ban atheists from holding public office.
What the actual fuck. Since when does your personal, religious beliefs matter in a country that supposedly has separation of church and state?
look at this shit
All of these states can feel free to secede from my country at any time, kthx.
GTFO of the country founded to escape religious persecution you cockmunching assholes.
Hahahaha, I saw hate about states and I’m so totally not surprised to see my state up there. For fucks sake, Mississippi, you have to get on everyone’s bad side, don’t you?
And separation of church and state in Mississippi? HA, HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! FUCK!
god dammit Texas.
This is why I’m too scared to ever leave California. Our economy might suck balls, but I’ll take that over this kinda bullshit.
pennsylvania being stellar as always
I looked a few of these up:
Pennsylvania (looks like whoever posted this can’t read)
Section 4
No person who acknowledges the being of a God and a future state of rewards and punishments shall, on account of his religious sentiments, be disqualified to hold any office or place of trust or profit under this Commonwealth.
Mississippi (they got this one right)
Article 14, Section 265
No person who denies the existence of a Supreme Being shall hold any office in this state.
Maryland (got this one right, too)
That no religious test ought ever to be required as a qualification for any office of profit or trust in this State, other than a declaration of belief in the existence of God; nor shall the Legislature prescribe any other oath of office than the oath prescribed by this Constitution.
These requirements clearly violate the First Amendment prohibition on establishment of religion, as well as the prohibition on any kind of religious test located in Article 6 of the Constitution. Since it would almost certainly be struck down by the federal courts if challenged, they have not been enforced in modern times.
Oh, one more thing. I have to laugh at the people who assumed the original post was the truth and didn’t do five minutes of simple research (e.g. Pennsylvania’s constitution actually guarantees that you can hold office no matter what your religious affiliation is). Geez…

Tattoo of Leviticus 18:22 forbidding homosexuality: $200
Not knowing that Leviticus 19:28 forbids tattoos: PricelessI had a hard time believing this was real, because it’s so catastrophically stupid. As usual, reality is stupider than my imagination. This was a guy speaking in defense of a hate crime, apparently unaware of the existence of irony. (TRIGGER WARNING for homophobia, hate crime violence):
talk about instant karma… the guy is clueless that he is a walking contradiction… what an idiot…
